Animal repellents are used for preventing attacks from animals, more
specifically canines or bears. The most common animal repellent is a
dog repellent. Dog attacks are an incredibly common occurrence. Every
year over 4.5 million people report being bitten by dogs (nearly 2% of the
US population). Every day, people are threatened and chased by dogs
who have escaped from their chains or their gates. Threatened dogs will
often bite no matter what their breed or size. This occurs quite often for
mail carriers and delivery people. Having dog repellant readily available
is a good idea for any individual. However, if you are in the mail or
delivery field, it should be a necessity. Check with your department on
their policies for carrying animal repellents.
